  • Travel Humidors Allow You to Have a Great Cigar Anywhere

Posted on April 26, 2009 by SwissTGallery

Smoking a great cigar in your own home is easy.  You just go to your humidor and remove your cigar.  However, if you’re traveling, it can be a bit more difficult.  Sure, you can put cigars in a cigar box, but they’re no longer as protected from the elements, and they’re no longer kept at that perfect temperature and humidity.  However, there are a number of travel humidors you can purchase that guarantee your cigars will be kept at the perfect temperature and ready for you to smoke. All of these travel humidors are, of course, waterproof, and all of them are designed to keep your cigars fresh and ready to smoke for weeks at a time.

When selecting a travel humidor, there are several things you must take into consideration.  The first is use.  If you’re going to be taking many week-long or longer trips, you may want a travel humidor that can hold a number of cigars.  One of the largest travel humidors you’ll find holds around 100 cigars, but you most likely won’t need that large of one.  You’ll find many travel humidors that hold 30 cigars, and that’s usually about right for most people who travel a lot.

There are actually many smaller travel humidors that can be used for various things.  There are some that only hold two or five cigars.  These small travel humidors are designed for the man on the go.  Many take them out to the club or to the golf course so they can have a smoke while relaxing.  For those who love their golf and their cigars, these small travel humidors are a great investment.

  • Wooden Cigar Humidors and Spanish Cedar

Posted on April 21, 2009 by SwissTGallery

When it comes to purchasing a cigar humidor, most of your selections will be out of wood.  You’ll find that there are a variety of different woods out there for you to choose from, but the best wooden cigar humidors, according to many collectors, are those made from Spanish cedar.  There are several reasons Spanish cedar is the wood of choice of humidors.

First, this wood, especially the Spanish cedar grown in North America, is known for its very distinctive and unique fragrance.  In fact, this fragrance makes Spanish Cedar a popular wood for many other projects and items, not just humidors.  It’s interesting to note, however, that Spanish cedar isn’t actually a cedar tree at all—it’s a deciduous tree, but the oil found within the tree has a very “cedary” smell.

Spanish cedar not only smells great but it looks great.  While the wood will vary in color depending on the soil conditions it was grown it, it generally has red or pink colored heartwood that slowly darkens when exposed.  This eventually results in reddish brown or purple tone that looks gorgeous when oiled and stained.  When used for a wooden cigar humidor, make certain the Spanish cedar is of the non-weepy variety.  If not, you may find that the wood is very high in sap, which can cause some issues as wooden cigar humidors are heated.  However, even if you do purchase a wooden cigar humidor that only includes non-weepy Spanish cedar, you may still notice some leaky sap.  This is normal and should be cleaned up right away.  It is possible to remove all sap from the wood, but experts agree that this sap is part of what makes Spanish cedar wooden cigar humidors have such a great smell and flavor.

  • Watch Winders for Women

Posted on April 17, 2009 by SwissTGallery

Many people think that collecting watches is a man’s hobby, and for the most part, they would be correct.  More men collect wrist watches than women, but that doesn’t mean there are no women who are into the hobby.  In fact, there are.  Some women, though, don’t actively collect watches, but they do own a watch that needs winding.  For these women, there are some specially made watch winders that look a bit more feminine.

Serious female wrist watch collectors will, of course, want the more professional, serious looking watch winders.  They will probably need the larger watch winders, too, which are usually only made in one style.  These smaller, more feminine watch winders often only hold one or two watches since they’re aimed at the amateur who isn’t looking to expand her collection.

What makes these watch winders look more feminine?  Well, they’re generally available in colors, for one.  They’re not just the standard wooden watch winders.  Instead, they’re often covered in fabric.  This fabric can be anywhere from white, black, or brown to brighter colors like red, blue, and even pink.  Some also look softer—they’re not as boxy or have as many edges.

Just because these watch winders don’t look the same as standard watch winders doesn’t mean they don’t work as well.  These watch winders work just as well as any other watch winder you’ll find.  They’re guaranteed to keep your own watches wound up or protect those precious family heirloom watches that you want to keep in perfect condition.

  • Finding Automatic Watch Winders for Sale

Posted on April 10, 2009 by SwissTGallery

There’s no denying it: automatic watch winders can be very expensive, especially if you’re looking for large, quality watch winders.  Anything that holds over about four watches is going to be very costly, but if your collection has grown to that size, you’re going to want to protect it.  The trick here is to watch for automatic watch winders for sale.  While it’s not something that’s common, if you’re diligent, you may find the perfect automatic watch winder for you that do not cost that much.

If you know of a store that sells automatic watch winders, watch for specials.  Sometimes, they will over-order and have items on sale.  This often happens after the holidays, in fact, and that’s a great time to grab a new automatic watch winder.  Likewise, if the store is going out of business, you’ll most likely be able to get a great deal.

If you don’t mind purchasing a used automatic watch winder, you can often get a very good deal.  Simply watch the classifieds in your local paper or, better yet, go online and search for watch winders for sale.  There are many websites out there devoted to classified ads, and some of them are surely to have watch winders for sale.  You can also visit websites dedicated to automatic watch winders and inquire as to whether or not anyone is selling off their collection and their watch winders.

The internet, in general, can be a great place to find automatic watch winders for sale.  Often, websites sell items, watch winders included, for less than physical stores do because there are fewer expenses (no shipping merchandise to stores and paying employees, for example).  Because of this, the internet may be your best bet when it comes to finding automatic watch winders for sale.
