Some people do not like shopping online because they can’t inspect the merchandise. However, watch winder sites generally provide a number of different images of the watch winder and information such as its dimensions and how it winds the watch.

  • What is a Watch Winder?

Posted on July 8, 2009 by SwissTGallery

For those of us who own expensive, collectible, or otherwise precious watches it is wise to invest in a wooden watch winder. A watch winder will ensure that your time piece is kept accurate when you are not wearing it, extend the life of your watch by keeping everything in motion and lubricated, and also keep it safe from dust when it is not being worn.

  • Wolf Designs: The History of an Automatic Watch Winder Company

In fact, the Watch Winder 2.0 was designed to simulate wearing a watch, so your watches will be wound in the best way possible. Some cheaper watch winders run all the time, but that’s certainly not good for your collectibles.

  • Availability of Watch Winders Today

Posted on May 18, 2009 by SwissTGallery

When it comes to hobbies, some seem to be enjoyed by just about everyone, but some seem to be only enjoyed by just a few. Collecting watches is one of the latter—it seems like there are very few people who collect watches. Some who do seem to only care about displaying the family watches they’ve inherited instead of expanding their collection. In addition to it being difficult to find other watch aficionados, it can be quite difficult to find places to purchase watch winder accessories and displays.

Finding an automatic watch winder can be somewhat difficult if you don’t know where exactly to look. Most likely, you won’t be able to find one at a local department store. You’ll need to look around for a specialty shop. You may not even be able to find an automatic watch winder at a specialty cabinet shop, however. If that’s the case, it’s time to start searching in a few other places.

One is an antiques store. These stores often carry watches and the displays for them. There’s a chance you’ll even get a very good deal on an older automatic watch winder. There’s also a chance, however, that the antiques dealer will have priced the winder for more than it’s worth.

If that’s the case, you may want to look online for your automatic watch winder. This is, in fact, probably the best place to search. You’ll find some online stores that sell brand new watch winders, and you may find some older winders on an auction site. Again, these auction sites could result in a great bargain, or they may be priced too high. Do some shopping around and find the best deal.

  • Watch Winders for Women

Posted on April 17, 2009 by SwissTGallery

Many people think that collecting watches is a man’s hobby, and for the most part, they would be correct.  More men collect wrist watches than women, but that doesn’t mean there are no women who are into the hobby.  In fact, there are.  Some women, though, don’t actively collect watches, but they do own a watch that needs winding.  For these women, there are some specially made watch winders that look a bit more feminine.

Serious female wrist watch collectors will, of course, want the more professional, serious looking watch winders.  They will probably need the larger watch winders, too, which are usually only made in one style.  These smaller, more feminine watch winders often only hold one or two watches since they’re aimed at the amateur who isn’t looking to expand her collection.

What makes these watch winders look more feminine?  Well, they’re generally available in colors, for one.  They’re not just the standard wooden watch winders.  Instead, they’re often covered in fabric.  This fabric can be anywhere from white, black, or brown to brighter colors like red, blue, and even pink.  Some also look softer—they’re not as boxy or have as many edges.

Just because these watch winders don’t look the same as standard watch winders doesn’t mean they don’t work as well.  These watch winders work just as well as any other watch winder you’ll find.  They’re guaranteed to keep your own watches wound up or protect those precious family heirloom watches that you want to keep in perfect condition.

  • Watch Winders as a Gift

Posted on February 16, 2009 by SwissTGallery

Finding the perfect gift can be difficult, but if you know someone who loves to collect watches, a watch winder may be the perfect gift.  However, there are some things you’ll need to know before you purchase a watch winder.  First, you’ll want to have an idea of how much money you want to spend.  Obviously, larger watch winders (those that hold more watches) will be more expensive.  You may think you need to buy a large watch winder to hold all of the watches your friend or relative owns, but that may not be the case.  For example, if you’re giving a watch winder to a relative who has several heirloom watches, you may want to buy them a watch winder specifically for those.  In that case, a two piece or four piece watch winder may be enough.

If you are looking for a watch winder large enough to hold all of the watches your friend or relative owns, you first need to know exactly how many watches he or she has.  Then you can purchase a watch winder large enough.  If money is no object, you may even want to purchase a larger watch winder so your friend has room to enlarge his or her collection.

Finally, if you’re planning on purchasing a large watch winder for your friend, be sure he or she has the space for it.  A 24 piece watch winder, for example, can take up a lot of room.  In fact, it is usually hung on the wall or sat on a table.  A 12 piece watch winder, likewise, is also pretty good size.

  • Benefits of Buying Multiple Watch Winders

Posted on February 8, 2009 by SwissTGallery

When purchasing a watch winder, you may be tempted to by a large watch winder display—a twelve or 24 piece display, for example.  The benefit here is that you can display your entire watch collection in one place.  However, the downside is that these larger displays can take up a good amount of room.  In fact, the 24 piece watch winder is a very impressive display and looks fantastic.  On the other hand, there are some benefits to having smaller watch winder displays.

One of the benefits of purchasing multiple watch winders to display your collection instead of one large watch winder cabinet is that you can split up your collection.  You can arrange a couple of smaller watch winder holders on a table or put them on several different book shelves.  You may want to set up your study to show off your collection, but you may want to display some of your watches in a different room.  For example, if you have a pair of watches you inherited from your father or grandfather, you may want to proudly display them on the mantle in your living room.  To do that, you might want to buy a two piece watch winder for those watches and a larger watch winder for the rest of your collection.

Purchasing several small watch winders is also a great way of taking parts of your collection for display or trade.  You could always take your watches out of the winders and show them off that way, but they will look much nicer in a watch winder display.  Keeping them in a display will also make certain they don’t get dirty or damaged and that no one walks away with one of your watches.
